Taking Off

Our Flight on Iberia Airlines leaves this afternoon. Provoked by the 25th wedding celebration of old friends, we are embarking on a new kind of family trip. Two young adult men and their nearly 60-year old parents will be staying in apartments in Madrid and Barcelona, as well as spending a celebratory anniversary weekend with Belgian friends in the South of France.

When the boys were small, we stayed near the tiny town of Puimoisson, France for over a month. The children sang of buying bread, swam in the Lac de St. Croix, and the older one became enamored of chess in a courtyard in Nice. Since then, individuals have traveled to France, Holland, Vietnam, Chicago, Marfa, NOLA, Tempe. The list would get long if I go into detail.

Memory is a strange substance that shifts constantly and looking back at previous trips and experiences shared, and not, is treacherous and delightful. This blog is intended to be a collective repository, momento, souvenir that can be words, images, links, or whatever any of the four Traveling Merediths care to add to it. Let the adventure begin.

Our lunch the day before for leaving for Spain
